Pierre learns from regional veterans

Trinidad and Tobago Red Force spinner revealed that he has been learning his trade from observing the methods of top regional performers in the Cricket West Indies Professional Cricket League.

The left-arm spinner captured his first five wicket haul at the First Class level in an innings and 16 run win over the Leeward Islands Hurricanes at Warner Park, St. Kitts.

“I just work hard in the nets on being as consistent as possible. Also I try and practice all that has been imparted on me from watching the likes of Nikita Miller and Veerasammy Permaul go about their work. They have been the top spinners in regional cricket and I have been analysing what makes them successful and incorporating into my game,” revealed Pierre.

The 26-year-old said about his haul of five for 44, “I am extremely happy about getting my first five wicket haul and also the manner in which I got it because it came in an important victory. I am all about the team and ensuring we win but I must confess it is proud feeling to do well with the ball. It has definitely made me more hungry.”

Besides starring with the ball, the Queen’s Park player has been quite useful with the bat. He scored 23 runs and shared in a vital eighth wicket partnership of 73-runs with Imran Khan which put the Red Force in a strong position to execute victory.

“I know I am very capable with the bat and I put a lot of work into my batting as well. Therefore, anytime I get the opportunity I always put a high price on my wicket and score runs,” Pierre concluded.
