WIPA Hosts Successful Workshop with Windies Women

September 28, 2016

On Monday, September 26, 2016, the West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) held its Player Development Workshop with the West Indies Women’s Team at the Trelawny Multipurpose Stadium. This is the fourth series of WIPA Player Development Workshops since 2014. The workshops are being held as part of the association’s thrust to facilitate total player development, improving members on and off the cricket field.

The workshop held on Monday covered presentations on WIPA, Match-Fixing, Anti-Doping and Media & Public Relations. The hour-long session was attended by the team manager, and all 18 members of the squad, many of who expressed that they were grateful for the work WIPA has been doing, particularly as it relates to the West Indies Women. The women also expressed interest in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) arrangements with The University of The West Indies Open Campus, the GC Foster College in Jamaica, and Quality Academics in Jamaica, and signaled their desire to join various programme that would further their education and qualification.

WIPA would like to wish the women all the best in the upcoming home series against England starting October 8th.

The next Player Development Workshop will be held on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 with the Jamaica Scorpions in Kingston, who are currently in training for the upcoming Professional Cricket League (PCL) season.
