KINGSTON, JAMAICA – The West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) held its Annual General Meeting on Monday, July 19, 2021, via the Zoom platform.

During the virtual meeting, President Hinds and his team spoke to key matters within the last eighteen months; the impact of COVID-19, the CWI/WIPA MOU, CWI Tournaments, Legal Matters, Finances and key operations and developments. Of special note were discussions on WIPA’s mentorship programme and recent developments in the International Retainer assessment and banding for the new contract cycle.

The group also ratified the return of all members of the executive, who were returned unopposed. As such, Wavell Hinds will continue as President, and Wayne Lewis as Honorary Secretary for the fifth consecutive term, and Nixon McLean will continue as Vice-President, Liam Sebastien as Assistant Honorary Secretary, and Ridley Jacobs as Treasurer for the fourth consecutive term.

WIPA President and CEO, Wavell Hinds, commented “I am grateful to have been returned as President for a fifth term unopposed and I endeavour to honour the confidence placed in me by our membership by continuing to improve the lives and work environment of our members.”

Secretary Lewis shared similar sentiments, “I’m very proud to be returned unopposed as Honorary Secretary of WIPA. The fact that the executive was returned en bloc is a demonstration of the members’ satisfaction and confidence in our body of work over the past two years.“
