KINGSTON, JAMAICA – The West Indies Players Association (WIPA) congratulates the Barbados Pride on winning the West Indies Championships.

The Barbados Pride were confirmed winners of the 2020 West Indies Championships following the suspension of the last two rounds, having been clear leaders at the end of the eighth round.

Commenting on the Pride’s success, WIPA President and CEO, Wavell Hinds said “Congratulations Barbados. This is the deserving reward for consistently being professional and disciplined since the introduction of the franchise 4-day tournament”.

The Barbados Pride incidentally beat five-time defending champions and closest rivals the Guyana Jaguars in the eighth-round contest.

Commenting on the Guyana Jaguars, Mr Hinds said “Special mention must be made of the Guyana Jaguars for putting in another consistent 4-day performance on the back of five (5) consecutive years of winning this title (2014/15 to 2018/19)”.

The Barbados Pride ended on 134.8 points ahead of the Trinidad Tobago Red Force, while the Guyana Jaguars tied with the Jamaica Scorpions on 91.8 points for third.
