T&T follow on against Windwards

February 9, 2015

GROS ISLET—The Windward Islands Volcanoes took first innings points from T&T Red Force at the close of the third day of their fifth round match in the WICB Professional Cricket League at Beausejour Cricket Ground yesterday.

Chasing the Windwards 400 for eight declared which was made one day earlier, the Red Force never showed the determination for a big score and folded for 177. Following on some 223 behind, they closed on 6-0.

Resuming on 129 for five, they soon lost Stephen Katwaroo, who resumed on 14. After adding just four, he was caught by Devon Smith off left-arm pacer Kenroy Peters for 18.

T&T soon lost topscorer Yannick Cariah, who after reaching his half century was deceived by Shane Shillingford and fell for 50. He batted some 164 minutes and faced 115 balls. Cariah struck seven fours and one six in his knock.

But once he was dismissed, none of the other batsmen applied themselves and the innings folded tamely. Shillingford also accounted for Imran Khan (0), and Shannon Gabriel (11) to end with the super figures of 11.4-1-42-3, while Peters, who broke the back of the T&T innings with early wickets, was the outstanding bowler, grabbing 5-21 from his 18 overs.

Play yesterday was delayed until after 4 p.m because of rain and only 29 overs were possible.

T&T will be hoping for bad weather again today if they are to avoid an innings defeat.
