SOUTHAMPTON, England – West Indies middle-order batsman Shimron Hetmyer spoke to CWI Media as he prepares for the ICC Cricket World Cup. The 22-year-old made an impressive start to his international career and will be playing in the marquee event for the first time. The ICC Cricket World Cup will be played in England and Wales from May 30 to July 14.

The left-hander has so far played 25 ODIs and has scored 899 runs (average 40.86) with an impressive strike rate of 110. He has four centuries all within the space of a year – 127 against United Arab Emirates in Harare; 125 against Bangladesh in Guyana; 106 against India in Guwahati; and a match-winning 104 not out against England in Barbados.

West Indies are presently in Southampton as part of their preparations for the 12th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup. Their first match is on Friday, May 31 against Pakistan at Trent Bridge in Nottingham. First ball is 10:30am (5:30am Eastern Caribbean Time/4:30am Jamaica Time).
