Logie says T&T played ‘perfect game’

January 25, 2016

Successful T&T Red Force coach Gus Logie has called for senior players from T&T to come back into the fold.

Logie made the call while soaking in the celebrations after his team won their second successive Nagico Super50 title on Saturday night defeating Barbados by 72 runs in the finals.

Missing nine senior players, T&T went into the tournament and won their 12th regional limited overs title.

Logie said: “The senior players must not move away from the game. Whatever difference you might have with the cricket board or officials, you want to put that aside and play the cricket. There is a legacy that you want to create.

“This is an open call to them to come on board and move the cricket forward. The country wants to see the best team play at all times and we need to understand this.”

Looking at his team’s performance, the former West Indies middle order batsman said: “There are so many heroes in this system, the coaching staff and management must take great credit for keeping the team together after the challenges we had outside and within the set up. The Cricket Board must be congratulated for their role in all of this and at the end of the day what we showed here is great depth in our cricket.”

Logie said his team played a perfect game: “It is all about execution on the day. Our game plan was spot on. We spoke about a perfect game and I think that this is what we got in the finals. People thought we would not have gotten out of the group stage but look where we are tonight. The players all give it their best, and I must say that the return of Denesh Ramdin and Darren Bravo worked well for us. The captain Jason Mohammed although not having the best of time with the bat, led the team very well and showed that he was tactically sound and grew as the tournament went on.”

Logie will now take a break before resuming work with the team after Carnival.
