KINGSTON, JAMAICA – The West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) wishes to extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Abigail Chapman. Chapman and her 15-year-old daughter Olivia were found dead on March 13, 2018, along with 69-year-old Michael Scott. It is still unclear at this time the motive for the killings.

Abigail, 34 years old, was a WIPA in the Community (WIC) Cricket coach from Khanai Lal Settlement, Sobo Village, La Brea, Trinidad. Chapman started coaching in the WIC programme in September 2013 through the Point Fortin SDA Primary School and held a Level 1 coaching certification.

Programme Manager for the WIPA in the Community programme, Mark Ramkissoon said “Abigail was very hardworking and very willing, she was very involved and was a cool person, I am so surprised to hear what happened, I am very saddened.” Assistant Programme Manager for WIPA in the Community, Rodney Sooklal, and Cricket Development Officer for WIPA in the Community, Bhoodesh Dookie, also expressed condolences on Abigail’s passing.

WIPA’s President and CEO, Wavell Hinds, also expressed great sorrow upon learning of Abigail’s passing, “It is very sad to hear what has happened to Abigail and her daughter. It hits home even more because she was one of ours, and made significant contribution to our WIPA in the Community outreach programme. My deepest sympathies are with the family and friends of Abigail, the entire WIPA in the Community cricket fraternity and by extension the WIPA family”.
