WIPA extends congratulations to the WI Womens Team on a Triumphant tournament

KINGSTON, Jamaica- The West Indies Players’ Association wishes to extend congratulations to the West Indies Women team on their continued outstanding performances. The West Indies Women are now the joint leader team with the Australian women in the standings of the ICC Women Championship.

The new captain Stafanie Taylor led with an unbeaten score of 87 in the fourth and final Women’s ODI. Together with former captain Merissa Aguilleria they led the team to victory and the top of the table.

Taylor led by example copping the Player of the tournament in the just concluded series against the Pakistan women. Taylor finished the four match series with two Player of the Match awards and a total of 261 runs.

President and CEO, Wavell Hinds expressed his uttermost delight by saying, “This team has grown from strength to strength and has the belief and the drive to succeed. We are extremely proud of them and look forward to what the future brings for these ladies.”

The West Indies Women next face off in the ICC Women Championship against the South African Women in February of 2016 who are ranked third, 4 points behind the joint leaders West Indies Women and Australian Women.
