KINGSTON, JAMAICA – The West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) conveys congratulations to Hayley Matthews on her Player of the Series award in the recently concluded T20I series versus Australia Women, and for earning the most consecutive Player of the Match awards, eight (8).
WIPA commends the West Indies Women’s team on their performances against Australia during the series, including staging the highest successful run-chase in women’s T20Is, the only occasion in which a women’s team successfully chased over 200 in T20I cricket, to set a new record of 213.
WIPA President and CEO, Wavell Hinds, commented, “The West Indies Women’s team have performed well throughout this series against a tough opposition, despite the result. We commend captain Matthews and the team for their efforts, inclusive of a world-record run-chase, and we wish the team good returns for the future.”
The T20I series concluded 2-1 in favor of Australia Women. The teams will now move on to the three (3) match ODI series which bowls off on October 7, 2023, at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane, Australia.
