WIPA Expresses Sympathies at Passing of Reginald Scarlett

August 14, 2019

KINGSTON, Jamaica– The West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) is saddened by news of the passing of former West Indies and Jamaica cricketer, Reginald Scarlett.

Reginald Osmond Scarlett was born August 15, 1934 in Port Maria, St. Mary, Jamaica and played for Jamaica and the West Indies in the 1960s. Scarlett was a lower-order batsman and spinner, who later worked with the Jamaica Cricket Association and the West Indies Cricket Board, now Cricket West Indies, on cricket development.

Reg Scarlett, as he was affectionately called, would have celebrated his 85th birthday in one day. He was reportedly battling a long illness.

WIPA President and CEO, Wavell Hinds expressed “The WIPA family would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Reginald Scarlett’s family and friends as well as the cricket fraternity. We wish them strength and peace at this time.”
