ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – Former West Indies Under-19 World Cup-winning pacer Chemar Holder led the demolition of the Jamaica Scorpions batting with a career-best return, propelling Barbados Pride to a 119-run victory in the West Indies Championship on Saturday.
Holder, 21, sharing the new ball with West Indies pacer Kemar Roach, bowled with pace and hostility, undermining the Scorpions batting for the second time in the match and paving the way for a commanding victory for the Pride on the third day of third round matches in the Championship.

Set up by their batsmen, led by Chandrapaul Hemraj, and fortified by their bowlers, five-time defending champions Guyana Jaguars had victory within sight against leaders Trinidad & Tobago Red Force in the main act of this round of matches.
And, Kieran Powell and Amir Jangoo followed up a strong bowling performance led by West Indies pacer Alzarri Joseph to put Leeward Islands Hurricanes in a strong position against Windward Islands Volcanoes in their rain-marred, day/night contest.

Chasing a highly improbable, if not impossible 403, Red Force have already lost the cream of their batting, including their captain Darren Bravo, the West Indies left-handed batsman, for two.
Opener Jeremy Solozano has led the way with 34, former captain Jason Mohammed gathered 33 and fellow left-hander Yannic Cariah got 27, but they all failed to build on their starts and Red Force stumbled to the close in a desperate position.
Pacer Keon Joseph and left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul have snared two wickets apiece to undermine the Red Force batting.
Jaguars earlier fortified their hold on the contest with consistent batting from their top order, after resuming from their overnight total of 53 without loss, already leading by 278.
Hemraj hit the top score of 54, fellow left-hander Vishaul Singh was not out on 37, another leftie Tagenarine Chanderpaul made 33 to pass the 2,000-run mark in the Championship and Christopher Barnwell added 21. (NOTE: Chanderpaul now has 2,005 runs from 38 Championship matches).
Spinners Bryan Charles and Yannick Ottley finished with two wickets apiece.

Holder bagged 6-47 from 14.3 overs to follow up his first innings five-wicket blast and ended with match figures of 11-92, making him a shoo-in for the Player of the Match award.
Chasing 288 for victory, the Scorpions never recovered after they slumped to 37 for four before lunch.
Nkrumah Bonner led the way with 39 and Grenadian Denis Smith, the former Volcanoes wicketkeeper/batsman, added 26, but no other batsman reached 20.
The most defiant period for the Scorpions was a 49-run stand for the seventh wicket between Smith and Derval Green, which carried them past 100, but there was to be no comeback story for the hosts.
The result gave Pride their second successive win for the season and a haul of 18.8 points, and Scorpions failed to fashion an escape plan on the third time of asking this season, slumping to their first defeat after they drew their first two matches.
Earlier, there was token resistance from the Pride tail-enders after the visitors resumed from their overnight total of 179 for six.
Pride added 27 before they were bowled out inside the first half-hour, but no batsman reached 20.
Scorpions pacer Nicholson Gordon claimed three of the last four wickets to finish with a career-best 6-45 from 15 overs.
Volcanoes (138) vs Hurricanes 234-5 at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in Gros-Islet, St. Lucia
Powell continued a good run of form with the top score of 69 and shared successive half-century stands with fellow opener Montcin Hodge and former Hurricanes captain Devon Thomas to give the visitors a firm base.
Powell shared 57 for the first wicket with Hodge and 60 for the second with Thomas before Hurricanes hit a snag at 149 for five.
Trinidad & Tobago-born Jangoo, a former West Indies Under-19 batsman, was not out on 51 and Jaison Peters was not out on 39, coming together to share 85 – unbroken – for the sixth wicket to revive the Hurricanes fortunes.
Joseph had earlier given Hurricanes a grip on the contest after the hosts resumed from their overnight total of 98 for six.
The West Indies pacer took three of the last four Volcanoes wickets to end with a stingy 5-41 from 23.4 overs.
