T&T players show form ahead of Nagico series

January 13, 2015

Many of the national cricketers are showing form ahead of the Nagico Super50 tournament including Evin Lewis and Rayad Emrit, as T&T played another practice match on Sunday at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port-of-Spain.

Playing for T&T Team A, Lewis slammed an unbeaten 90, while captain Emrit took 5/28 (eight overs) to lead the team to an easy eight-wicket win over T&T Team B.

Team B was dismissed for a modest 175 in 39 overs batting first, as Emrit, Imran Khan (2/19) and Jason Mohammed (2/14) all caused problems for the Team B batsmen. Kevon Cooper top scored with 45 from 49 balls, while Yannic Cariah pitched in with 41.

In reply, Lewis showed his usual aggression in his 77-ball knock, lashing six fours and five sixes. After losing Nicholas Sookdeosingh for 17, Lewis and Darren Bravo shared in a 128-run second wicket partnership which set up the victory for Team A.

Bravo struck 62 off 60 balls, hitting four fours and three sixes. After Bravo lost his wicket with the score on 174, Jeremy Solozano came in and struck a four to finish off the match.

The Nagico Super50 begins on Thursday, but T&T will face West Indies Under-19 on Friday at Shaw Park, Tobago in its opener.
