Super50 Cup Semifinals – Leon Johnson & Nikita Miller Audio

October 24, 2018

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados Guyana Jaguars captain Leon Johnson and Jamaica Scorpions captain Nikita Miller spoke to CWI Media on the eve of the first semi-final between their two sides in the Super50 Cup on Thursday at Kensington Oval here.

The match looks like it could be a showdown between the bowling strength of the Jaguars and the batting depth of the Scorpions.

Two of the Jaguars bowlers – Jamaica-born off-spinner Ramaal Lewis with 12 wickets at 15.16 apiece and fast-medium bowler Clinton Pestano with 11 wickets at 16.90 each – are in the top 10 bowlers in the tournament following the group stage, with only Christopher Barnwell featuring among the top 10 batsmen.

Three of the Scorpions’ batsmen – led by WINDIES Test cap Jermaine Blackwood with 315 runs at an average of 45 flat – are in the top 10 batsmen in the tournament following the group stage, with only Miller featuring among the top 10 bowlers with 11 wickets at 21.18 apiece.

This will be the 25th meeting of the two sides in this format in regional competition with the Scorpions holding the edge, having won 12 of the previous matches to the Jaguars’ 11.
