Mohammed called up to West Indies team

November 14, 2016

Trinidad and Tobago Red Force batsman, Jason Mohammed has been called up to the West Indies team for the Tri-Series tournament in Zimbabwe. Mohammed, 30, replaces left-hand batsman Darren Bravo in the team who has been sent home due to inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour, which is contrary to his contractual obligations to the WICB.

Off-spinner, Sunil Narine has withdrawn from the tour for personal reasons. He is replaced in the West Indies team by Devindra Bishoo who was the leading bowler for West Indies in the recent Test Series against Pakistan in United Arab Emirates – where he took 18 wickets in the three matches.

Bravo violated the clause in his agreement that states (in clause 4.7.2.2 of your match/tour contract) not to make any statement in or to any form of media (which shall include, without limitation, print media, television, radio, internet or any social networking media), or any other public statement, which would bring yourself, WICB or any official or authorised representative of WICB or the game of cricket into disrepute and your agreement to use all such media in a responsible manner.

Mohammed is currently at the wicket for the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force in their Round One Digicel 4-Day match against the Windward Islands Volcanoes at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port-of-Spain. The right-hand batsman is on 30 not out with the Red Force on 139 for five. He will be allowed to complete the day’s play before departing to Zimbabwe to join the West Indies team. The Red Force will be allowed a replacement player.
