Bravo explains omission

November 12, 2014

Dapper T&T and West Indies middle order batsman Darren Bravo has responded to his omission from the Red Force cricket team for the first set of matches in the West Indies Professional Cricket League carded to get underway against Barbados Pride on Friday at the Queen’s Park Oval.

The TTCB revealed the names of the players for the opening two matches of the series and Bravo was not included.

Chief selector Alec Burns said the board had arranged a meeting with Bravo for which he did not show and he failed to contact the board or the selectors. Burns said that the selectors had no choice but to omit Bravo because the selectors did not know if he was available.

Bravo said yesterday he sent a letter to the board indicating he wanted time off to deal with some personal issues. “I also indicated that I will be available after the third match and once selected I will be going all out to represent my country to the best of my ability.”

Bravo was one of the West Indies players who aborted the tour of India recently and after his non-inclusion on the Red Force team, questions were asked as to whether he was being victimised.

Bravo will miss games against Barbados Pride, the Leeward Islands and Jamaica.
