JCA Honours Sabina Park Icons

April 25, 2017

Former West Indies captain Jimmy Adams was among 10 former West Indies players honoured by the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) during the luncheon interval of the first Brighto Paints-Q Mobile Test between the West Indies and Pakistan at Sabina Park yesterday.

The players were honoured for having played at the venue, which is currently hosting its 50th Test, and received from JCA president Wilford ‘Billy’ Heaven, a commemorative medal and T-shirt. The presentations were done next to the playing pitch.

In addition to Adams, the other former players were Easton McMorris, Maurice Foster, Jeffrey Dujon, Ian Bishop, Nehemiah Perry, Franklyn Rose, Roland Holder, Uton Dowe and Wavell Hinds.

“The presentation was borne from the fact that we wanted to recognise as best as possible the players, who participated in the 50 Test matches that have been played at Sabina Park,” explained JCA second vice-president, Mark Neita.

”I think it is fair to say that a lot of those players have played a significant role in the development and performance of West Indies teams over the many years.

“Up to today’s test match it is 195 players, including Shimron Hetmyer and Vishaul Singh – who have made their debuts in this match – would have represented the West Indies at Sabina Park, are we are happy,” he added.
