Disappointed Santokie confident of finding new team

December 19, 2014

Pacer Krishmar Santokie says he is disappointed but not worried that he was released by the Indian Premier League (IPL) outfit Mumbai Indians ahead of the next season of the prestigious T20 tournament.

The Jamaican bowler was among five Caribbean players released by their IPL franchises, with the new season set to bowl off next April.

“I feel a bit disappointed, but I am not overly concerned as I did not play many games,” said Santokie, who was dropped after playing two matches and ending with figures of two for 24 and one for 24
“I played in only two of 14 for the season, and knew that if I had got more opportunities, I would make more of an impression”.

The 29-year-old has been joined by West Indies Twenty20 captain Darren Sammy and pacers Ravi Rampaul, Jason Holder and Kevon Cooper, as players who will be seeking a new franchise for the upcoming IPL season.
The IPL draft will be staged early next year.

“It is also my first season,” said Santokie.

“And going into the draft next year, I know that if I am to continue to do well with the West Indies, I should stand another chance”.

Santokie, who last represented the West Indies in August against Bangladesh, is a potential candidate for the regional squad ahead of their Twenty20 clash with South Africa.
West Indies are scheduled to play the Proteas in three Twenty20 Internationals immediately following their ongoing three-match Test series.
