West Indies A Team bowlers were made to toil as New Zealand A batsmen made use of the good batting conditions on the second day of the four-day first class match. Openers Glen Phillips and Tim Seifert each scored centuries as the home team batted all day to reach 321-3 at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.
This was in reply to 322 made by West Indies ‘A’ on the opening day. Phillips and Seifert added 226 at a run-a-minute in 60 overs before the attacking Phillips was well caught and bowled by Hayden Walsh Jr. for 136. He faced 184 balls and struck 15 fours and five sixes.

Seifert and Mark Chapman then put on 80 before Seifert was adjudged leg-before to left-arm seamer Raymon Reifer for 111. Chapman was the last wicket of the day caught by Romario Shepherd off slow bowling of Nicholas Pooran.
It was the first time Pooran bowled in his professional career and got the wicket with his second ball.
On the first day the West Indies ‘A’ scored was built around a sensational 133 by Shepherd, batting at Number 9. The powerfully-built right-hander came to the crease with the score at 113-7 and added 199 for the eighth wicket with Raymon Reifer, who made 65.
