Stafanie Taylor joined her nine other counterpart captains at the Captains Media Day hosted by the ICC at the picturesque Taronga Zoo, overlooking Sydney Harbour.
During the session hosted by former Australian player turned commentator, Mel Jones, the captains were asked about their preparations and expectations for the tournament. Stafanie expressed her and the team’s excitement about the official launch of the tournament with the Captains Day, however she’s holding her nerve waiting for the first match on February 22 against Thailand in Perth.
The West Indies captain is relishing the title of underdogs for this edition of the tournament, with all the pressure on home team Australia. Stafanie indicated that the ladies will take it one game a time and are looking to simply play the best cricket they can without worrying at the forefront of their minds about winning the title.
Despite the challenges of the weather, the West Indies Women continue their preparations and are hoping to get their final practice match against India off and running at the Allan Border Field in Brisbane on February 18.
The West Indies in particular are looking forward to some much-needed outdoor match practice, as ninety percent of training in Brisbane has been indoors thus far.
