WIPA Expresses Condolences at Passing of Thelston Payne

KINGSTON, JAMAICA – The West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) expresses condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of former Barbados and West Indies cricketer Thelston Payne.

Thelston Rodney O’Neale Payne, born 13 February 1957 in St Philip, Barbados, played for Barbados between 1978 and 1990, and the West Indies between 1984 and 1987. Thelston was a wicketkeeper/batsman, who was understudy to Jeff Dujon for much of his career. 

Payne passed away in Barbados earlier today, Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at the age of 66.

“We’re sad to hear the news that Thelston Payne has passed away. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and colleagues at this sad time,” said WIPA President and CEO, Wavell Hinds.
