WIPA Congratulates Kieron Pollard on his Retirement from International Cricket

April 20, 2022

KINGSTON, Jamaica – The West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) sends best wishes to Kieron Pollard on his decision to retire from international cricket.

The West Indies limited-overs captain took to social media on Wednesday to make the announcement that he would no longer be representing the Regional side. In the post, he made mention of his desire to play for the West Indies as a youngster, the fond memories of his One Day International debut, and being given “the highest honour bestowed” on him of captaining the West Indies.

WIPA President and CEO, Wavell Hinds expressed, “Thanks to Kieron Pollard for his fifteen (15) years of service to the West Indies. We wish him all the best in his ongoing professional career. His contribution to winning the 2012 WT20 will remain with us for an extended time.”

In a career spanning fifteen years, Kieron Pollard compiled 2,706 runs, which included three centuries, and  took 55 wickets in 123 One Day Internationals. He played 101 T20Is of which he scored 1569 runs and picked up 42 wickets. He famously struck six sixes in an over versus Sri Lanka in March 2021. He was appointed white-ball captain for the West Indies in 2019 and served in this capacity up until the announcement of his retirement.
