A determined Trinidad and Tobago Red Force took first innings points from the Guyana Jaguars on the penultimate day of their ninth round match at the Guyana National Stadium here yesterday.
Resuming at 173 -4 after dismissing the Jaguars for 291, Trinidad and Tobago got half centuries from Yanic Cariah (71), Yanick Ottley (82) and Stephen Katwaroo (70 not out).
At the close, Guyana reached 123 for three with West Indies batsman Asad Fudadin hitting 50. They lead by 71 runs with seven wickets in hand and will be pushing for quick runs in an effort to force an outright win today.
Resuming at 173 for four, T&T lost Cariah without addition to his overnight score. Cariah was bowled by leg spinner Davendra Bishoo who enjoyed the good figures of 6-79 from his 32 overs.
However, Ottley and Katwaroo combined in a sixth wicket partnership of 137, which took their team to first innings points.
However, at the fall of Ottley’s wicket, the T&T innings folded quickly in the face of some accurate bowling from Bisho who removed the last four batsmen for the addition of just 30 runs.
He trapped Marlon Richards (1) lbw, then had Bryan Charles caught by Barnwell for a duck before dismissing the last man Shannon Gabriel (16).
Fudadin and Chandrika (31) gave Guyana a solid start of 60 in their second innings before leg spinner Imran Khan removed Chandrika via the lbw route.
Allrounder jason Mohammed then accounted for Fudadin (50) and West Indies batman Leon Johnson (28) to stifle the Guyana innings.
