Stewart warms up for CPL with match-winning half-century

MIAMI, Florida (CMC) — Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) all-rounder Navin Stewart hit a match-winning half-century to grab the spotlight in the South Florida Twenty20 (T20) Cricket League, here on the weekend.

Stewart blasted 77 to lead a representative T&T outfit to a massive 88-run victory over a team representing India at Lauderhill Sports Park.

The bowling all-rounder scored his 77 from 34 balls with six sixes as T&T made 211 for four of their 20 overs, while India were restricted to 123 all out.

Stewart will be playing for the Barbados Tridents in the upcoming Hero Caribbean Premier League T20 tournament.

The finals of the South Florida League, which includes players representing nations from across the world, will be contested on Friday.

A T&T representative team, which is also expected to include all-rounder Rayad Emrit, will meet a Guyana outfit, with former West Indies batsman Ramnaresh in the line-up in Friday’s finals.
