Stafanie Taylor named ICC Women’s International T/20 player of the year

Jamaica and West Indies Captain Stafanie Taylor has been named the International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s International T/20 Player of The Year.

The West Indies skipper scored the most runs by any women’s batter in the shortest format of the game – 340 in nine matches, during the 12 month voting period.

Said Taylor on winning the award, “ I’m delighted to be the winner again as I wasn’t expecting to win this year, and for me, it is an early Christmas gift, so I have something extra to celebrate. Winning an award is extra motivation to do better.”

Taylor who was named ICC Women’s ODI Player of The Year in 2011 and 2012, said she would like to dedicate this award to her team-mates, who have been very supportive of her throughout my career.

The 24 year old right handed batswoman has already scored 178-runs for Sydney Thunder in her first five matches of the Australian Big Bash Cricket League including an unbeaten 59 against the Sydney Sixers in the opening round of the tournament
