Simmons demands answers before WICB meeting

EMBATTLED West Indies coach Phil Simmons will not meet with WICB officials until he has been formally informed of the regulations that have been breached.Simmons was suspended indefinitely by the WICB two weeks ago following statements that the selection process was being influenced by outside factors. The coach was due to meet with a human resources committee set up by the WICB last week where he would have been required to explain what was meant by his statements. If the resources committee found the allegations to be unproven Simmons would be required to face a disciplinary committee, which would decide his fate.

However, in a twist of events the coach has demanded that the specific breach be named in order to be able to adequately prepare himself to face the committee, Trinidad and Tobago publication Trinidad and Tobago Guardian has reported.

In light of his suspension ahead of the West Indies team tour of Sri Lanka Simmons was replaced by selector Eldine Baptiste as coach for the current series in Sri Lanka.
