Scorpions face heavy defeat to Pride

Jamaica Scorpions are facing heavy defeat after closing on 161-8 in their second innings yesterday, still needing 23 runs to make Barbados Pride bat a second time in the Professional Cricket League match at Kensington Oval.

Scores: Barbados Pride 373; Jamaica Scorpions 189 & 161-8.

Damion Jacobs, on 21, and Jason Dawes, on eight, are set to resume for the visitors on today’s fourth and final day of the encounter.

The Scorpions started the third day on 114-2, but were brushed aside for 189 as medium pacer Kevin Stoute grabbed 4-12. Barbadian Kirk Edwards, drafted by the Scorpions this season, top scored with 58.

Forced to follow-on, Jamaica again struggled as pacer Miguel Cummins claimed 3-20. Left-hand opener John Campbell is top scorer so far with 35.
