Rising Stars Go Down By 9 Wickets As England Maintain Lead

West Indies Rising Stars U19s went down to England Under-19 as the home dominated and won easily as the tour moved from the County Ground, Beckenham to the Polo Ground in Canterbury for the second half of this six-match series. West Indies got first use of the new surface and were bowled out for 135 off 40.5 overs on Friday. The home side easily erased the target as they sped to 136-1 off 17.5 overs to take a 3-1 lead with two matches to be played.

In the West Indies innings wicket-keeper Rivaldo Clarke topcored with 37 off 42 balls with seven boundaries. He fell with the score at 58-5 in the 17th over after a solid partnership of 39 with vice-captain Giovonte Depeiza, who made 32 off 52 balls with two fours. Later in the innings, allrounder Sion Hackett was watchful and patient in his debut innings. He scored 28 off 72 balls with two fours before he was the last man out.

England’s bowling attack was again led by new ball bowler Sonny Baker, who took 3-37 off his 10 overs while seamer Thomas Aspinwall ended with 3-28.

England eventually cruised to their target in 17 overs and their chase was built around half-centuries by openers Jacob Bethell (67) and Greg Thomas (59).

The two teams will return to the same venue on Tuesday for the fifth match of the series where the West Indies will be aiming to pull a victory back and increase their chances of drawing the series. First ball is 10:30am (5:30 Eastern Caribbean/4:30am Jamaica).
