Rampaul back for Red Force

Pacer Ravi Rampaul was a welcome sight on the cricket field yesterday, as he turned out for Kyle Hope’s XI against Marlon Richards’ XI in the second national trial for the upcoming Regional Super50 cricket series at the Queen’s Park Oval.

Rampaul who has been playing County cricket since coming out of the West Indies scene, is looking to make a comeback and yesterday 1/21 of five overs in his spell.

Batting first, Kyle Hope’s XI made a solid 255 for six wickets with wicketkeeper Steven Katwaroo scoring an unbeaten 45. He forged a useful partnership of 60 with West Indies Under-19 player Jyd Goolie, who made 42 not out. Also among the runs were Ewart Nicholson 36, Yannick Ottley 36, Hope himself 33 and Kjorn Ottley 27. Spinner Ricky Jaipaul continued to impress with 2/33, while all rounder Roshon Primus grabbed 2/27.

In reply, Richards’ XI was bowled out for 115 in 31.2 overs with Jason Mohammed getting 20 and the inform Yannic Carriah 21. Spinner Bryan Charles took 3/19, Philton Williams 2/14 and Khary Pierre 2/18.
