WIPA Congratulates Shivnarine Chanderpaul on Induction to ICC Hall of Fame

November 8, 2022

KINGSTON, JAMAICA – The executive, management, and staff of the West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) extends whole-hearted congratulations to Shivnarine Chanderpaul on the distinguished and well-deserved honour of being inducted to the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Hall of Fame.

As a young Guyanese batter, Chanderpaul made his Test debut for the West Indies in 1994 at the age of 19. Over the next 20 years, he would amass 11867 Test runs, including 30 centuries, at an average 51.37, (the second highest for the West Indies); and 8778 ODI runs at an average of 41.60 and a strike rate of 70.74, (the third highest for the West Indies).

“This is a deserving accomplishment for a true legend of West Indies cricket, and the game. Shivnarine Chanderpaul consistently operated at world-class standard throughout his career, he was one of the hardest and most honest workers at his game. Shiv was the glue of the West Indies batting line up for two decades. He has my warmest congratulations.” said WIPA President and CEO, Wavell Hinds.
