March 12, 2021

KINGSTON, JAMAICA – The West Indies Players Association (WIPA) congratulates Kraigg Brathwaite on his appointment as the 37th captain of the West Indies Men’s Test team.

Kraigg Brathwaite, who recently led the team to a 2-0 series victory over Bangladesh, replaces Jason Holder who has captained the West Indies team in 37 Tests since his appointment in 2015 as a 23-year-old.

WIPA’s executive, management and staff extends thanks to outgoing captain Jason Holder for his service to West Indies cricket as captain, and we wish him continued success on and off the field. Equally, we wish Kraigg Brathwaite continued success in his new role as captain.

WIPA President and CEO, Wavell Hinds, expressed, “Congratulations to Kraigg on becoming the 37th captain of the West Indies Test team. We know this important job comes with great responsibilities on and off the field, of which Kraigg has made a wonderful start. Special thanks to our outgoing captain Jason Holder who executed his duties with dignity and pride, I wish him continued success as an all-rounder and an ambassador of our team.”
