Peters named LI’s vice captain ahead of four day opener

Four national cricketers have been named in a 13-member Leeward Islands squad, including Vice Captain Orlando “Baby” Peters, ahead of their opening Regional 4-Day clash against T&T Red Steel on Friday in St Kitts.

Peters is joined by fast bowlers Alzarri Joseph and Gavin Tongue, alongside the hard-hitting Rahkeem “Jimbo” Cornwall. The team is captained by right-handed Kittian batsman Steve Liburd.

Coach Reginald Benjamin expressed confidence in both Liburd and Peters to lead the squad both on and off the field of play.

“We have a programme that is much more detailed than in previous years, and based on performance, not with bat or ball but leadership qualities, I was most comfortable with making that decision,” he said.
