Mohammed, Hope back for Digicel 4-Day

As Round 3 of the Digicel Regional 4Day bowls off, Kyle Hope is back with his regional franchise, the TT Red Force.

Hope who returned to the region recently following his tour with the Windies Men’s team in England and Zimbabwe, got off to a decent start with 68 runs vs the Windward Islands Volcanoes. His score included a six, and eight fours, The Red Force are on 332/3 at close of play on day one.

Players who have been experiencing varying results on the international team have been recommended to return to the Regional 4Day, where they can regain their form and confidence before being selected back into the Test team. Meanwhile, regional players have always been encouraged to use this tournament as a platform from which to gain selection to the West Indies Senior Men’s team.

Another player also taking heed of the advice is Jason Mohammed, who suffered an injury during the England tour. Mohammed is looking forward to gaining a spot not only in the ODI squad but in the Test team as well. Also playing for the Red Force in the third round, Mohammed closed day one with 99 not out; and he along with captain, Denesh Ramdin, 104 not out will re-start the Red Force’s innings on Day 2.

CWI’s Director of Cricket Jimmy Adams is pleased with the change of format saying, “Players now have a longer period of 10 rounds to prove themselves for selection to the WINDIES Senior Team. This gives players the opportunity to press for selection by consistently performing well over a longer period, which is the focus of Test cricket, rather than scoring big over a shorter period.”

The matches in Round 3 continue tomorrow at the Queen’s park Oval, Warner Park and Sabina Park.
