Gains for Bravo, Brathwaite after big scores in opening Test

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (CMC) — Two West Indies batsmen, Darren Bravo and Kraigg Brathwaite, have made marginal gains in the ICC player rankings following their performances in the opening Test match against Australia which ended on Saturday.

Bravo was rewarded for scoring his side’s lone century by moving up two spots to 25th while Brathwaite, who missed his century by six runs, has moved up seven places to 35th position.

Bravo posted 109, the highlight of West Indies’ first innings total of 223 while Brathwaite’s counter-attacking 94 was the only resistance in West Indies’ paltry second-innings score of 148.

West Indies lost to Australia by an innings and 212 runs inside three days.

Meantime, two of the players who played large roles in West Indies’ demise, Adam Voges and Shaun Marsh, have vaulted to career best positions in the rankings.
Voges, who led the charge with a first-innings double-century has moved up 19 places to 15th, while Marsh, who supported with a knock of 181, has risen 17 spots to 37th in the batsman rankings.
