IT WAS A WhatsApp message from his second cousin and batting legend Brian Lara, that inspired Darren Bravo to lead the West Indies to their emphatic victory over England at Kensington Oval yesterday.
Bravo sent Lara a birthday greeting message on May 2, which read: “Hey Brian, happy birthday. Love always.”
Lara graciously replied and expressed gratitude but specially added, if not reminded, his little cousin that he wanted an outstanding innings as a fitting birthday present. Bravo delivered yesterday in the form of a match-winning 82 that led to the five-wicket win.
“I know I failed in the first innings and I said today this one is going to be for Brian. I came out and really buckled down to win this for my team and dedicate to Brian,” Bravo told NATIONSPORT.
